Thanksgiving Turkey the Hippie Way

Standard

These guys will be happily strutting around in my pasture today. I don’t think they realize just how lucky they are. Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Oh my word — those are the biggest turkeys I have ever seen! Does your family not eat turkey for Thanksgiving? I know you adhere to a special diet, but I don’t remember you saying you were a vegan or vegetarian. I hope no matter what you ate, all of you enjoyed the day together, as a family. I am happy to report that is exactly what I did! I did not think I would be able to participate in Thanksgiving this year; but God is good, and He allowed me to feast and converse and forget the pain for an evening. I am grateful. I believe this in my heart, Lori, that it is people like you, who are praying for me, that enable me to get through this impossible time. For the last 2 days I have been able to exercise, and last night I went out to see a movie, and even went to dinner afterward. It was one of the first normal nights I have had in some time. I love you!

Oh, and this must be said: Lori, you look lovely and full of serenity sitting there on the lawn beside your gobbling friend. And . . . you have the most gorgeous hair! If you ever decide to chop it, just sweep it up, pack it into a Ziploc and send it my way! 😉

    Love you, sweet lady,

    • Cara, most of all I’m thankful you had a nice couple of days! That is so good to hear. Prayer and love is one powerful combination. We also had a wonderful holiday with my parents, my brothers and their family. It was just perfect!

Can you believe those turkeys were babies just this Spring? They really have grown big, especially Hey Zeus (my favorite). Someday I’ll have to tell you how he got his name. My hubby and girls do not eat meat of any kind except for fish on rare occasion, but the rest of my family does. And I although I seldom eat meat, I did enjoy a nice slice of turkey for Thanksgiving. I only felt a little guilty. 😉

Thank you for always taking time to make my day a little brighter! Much love and continued prayers!

      Lori
